My name is Joana Raimundo (Ray for short) and I’m a Portuguese freelance illustrator/designer currently living in Portugal.
I’m from Alcobaça (yes, the one with the really old but awesome monastery) and here I lived until it was time to go to the university. After that I traveled a bit to study (¡Barcelona, olé!) and work (Venezia, dai) and eventually came back because that’s just how life goes.
As an illustrator I’ve been lucky enough to work on all kinds of projects – kids’ books for the smallest publisher in the world, posters for awesome rock parties, lettering for cool t-shirts, album art for cosmic music from a distant galaxy and animation for a short-movie (limited access for now).
But I also love and work on the multimedia universe – I graduated in New Communication Technologies at the University of Aveiro and worked full-time as a web-designer and front-end developer for 9 years, 6 of those for the international fashion brands La Redoute and Vertbaudet.
I’m fascinated about accessibility, responsive design (since I read that article by John Allsopp and that book by Ethan Marcotte) and progressive enhancement (since I read that other book by Aaron Gustafson).
I’m currently available for new projects, so feel free to contact me (even if it’s just to say “Hey girl!”) – ring-a-ding-ding
Since this is meant to be an online portfolio, some stuff like sketch book illustrations or w.i.p. pics won’t be published here. Instead I’ll be posting it on social media websites which you are very welcome to follow:

About this website
This website was designed and developed by yours truly. It runs on wordpress and the theme was developed as a front-end exercise.
It is responsive and I tried to build it following the progressive enhancement method and respecting accessibility matters (so if anything looks funky, please let me know so I can fix it – hello (at) joana (dot) cc)
And if you’re curious there’s a styles/content guide that I used as I developed this theme, right here – Content Guide
